Silver Jubilee Celebrations

The Philippine Province has a ten-minute introductory video explaining the theme chosen by the Province for celebrating the Jesuit Jubilee Year. "Vision, Passion, and Caring Spirit," produced by Jesuit Communications (JesCom) in Manila, can be viewed at the Province website, www.jesuits.ph.

The Philippine Province also published "Praying with the First Companions," a resource book of prayer themes for use during the Jubilee year. It contains novena guides, recollection points, and original prayers written by Jesuits and their lay partners in the Philippines. The book includes recollection points on San Alberto Hurtado. The book costs US$3 and may be ordered from the Sales Manager, Dit Sablan, through her email esablan@admu.edu.ph

The parish of St. Francis Xavier in Melaka invited the Jesuits of Malaysia-Singapore Region to take part in the 500th Birth Anniversary of St. Francis Xavier with the following series of events: 26 & 27 June, 8pm, Eucharist in Mandarin; 28 & 29 June, 8pm, Eucharist in Tamil; 30 June, 8pm, Eucharist in English; July 1, 5.30pm – Novena, 6pm – Eucharist in English (including the installation and dedication of the life size replica-statutes of St. Francis Xavier and his servant Anjiro, donation from the Catholic populace of Kagoshima City in Kyushu Island in Japan), 7.30pm – Dinner at Pei Fong Hall, Melaka. The theme for the celebrations: The Journey of St. Francis Xavier; the Journey of the Local Church. Fr. Paul Dass is the liaison in the planning committee of SFX Melaka.
