The meeting for this year of the national secretaries of Education will take place on August 4 -8 at the St. Ignatius College, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Those who have confirmed to come are Fr Gerry Healy (ASL), Fr Jim Croghan (MIC), Fr Yoshio Kajiyama (JPN), Fr Eric Velandria (PHI), Fr. Heru Hendarto (IDO), Fr Riyo Mursanto (JCEAO Secretary).

Since many haven’t had the chance to meet before, this will be an opportunity for them to get to know each other. They would also want to share how they maintain the characteristics of Jesuit education in their respective schools. They also have identified the need to make a simple guideline, in the form of some questions, for the superior, the supervisor, as well as the administrator, on how to keep their focus on the characteristics of Jesuit education. They look forward to collaboration in providing some programs for the administrators and the teachers to refresh their acquaintance with the Ignatian pedagogical paradigm.

A sideline of the meeting will be a solidarity action for the Jesuit-managed schools around Yogyakarta which have been destroyed by the earthquake.
