First JCEAO Arrupe Board Meeting

Categories: International Works

In the January 2007 meeting of the Major Superiors, it was decided to create a governing body for Arrupe International Residence (AIR). The group, made up of Frs Adolfo Nicolás, John Mace, Daniel Huang, Louis Gendron, Paul Pollock, and Koichi Matsumoto met last July 18 at the JCEAO office. The main purpose of the meeting was to produce a meaningful and fluid modus operandi for the body. The group decided that the name be changed to JCEAO Arrupe Board and that the Board is not only advisory, but also executive.

After much discussion, it was considered that Ateneo de Manila seems to be the best place for the Juniorate and Philosophy programs. The Board also accepted the suggestion of the Philippine Provincial that theologians of Arrupe might be accepted in Loyola House of Studies for LHS to be more international and its mandate of Asian theology be given greater importance.
