Last August 10 –18, twelve Jesuits made their annual retreat at the Dare Retreat House, with Fr John Mace giving points once a day.

On August 14, Fr Dibya left for his year-long sabbatical at Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Fr Bernard Hyacinth Arputhasamy, Director of JRS/AP, paid the community a visit last August 19 – 27 to continue the discernment about a possible JRS return to work with internally displaced peoples in East Timor. On August 22, US Ambassador Hans Klemm and his wife Mari were their guests for lunch.

Fr Mace was invited by the Assistancy treasurers to attend their annual meeting in Korea from September 3 – 6 to speak with them about the financial needs of East Timor. During his absence, Fr Joaquim Sarmento was the Acting Superior.

Fr Danny Huang, Philippine Provincial, came for a short visit on September 12 – 13.

In the next couple months, the Region looks forward to the following activities: Sept. 16 –22 Fr Mace will visit Railaku; Sept. 24 is the Consultors’ Meeting; Sept. 25 a Community Meeting in Dili; Sept. 27 a despedida for Fr Rutten at the Minor Seminary; visitations on Sept. 28-Oct. 3 in Suai, Oct. 8 –13 in Colégio São José, Oct. 15 –19 in Loyola Community; Oct. 27 will be Fr. Joaquim‘s final vows in Soibada; and Oct. 30 a Community Meeting, Dili.
