On December 15, Fr Paul Pollock wrote, “In January 2008, Fr Tran Van Tro (ASL) will take up his new assignment in Yangon. He will be assigned to the Campion Language Institute and be helping out with the candidates at Canisius House; and also be available for retreats and pastoral ministry as the requests come in. Yangon is already looking forward to his arrival, and I thank Tro for the work that he did at the Novitiate and at Gonzaga Language Institute in Taunggyi during the first part of his work in Myanmar. He is now in Australia attending the Australian Province Gathering, and he takes up his new assignment when he returns to Myanmar at the beginning of January.
Since my last newsletter, Myanmar Mission has had the privilege to welcome Bro Johann do-hyun Park (KOR), who is now working full time at Gonzaga Language Institute, and taking care of the pre-candidates in Taunggyi. We have also had the joy of welcoming Fr C. Amalraj (MDU), who is already being overworked in Yangon with teaching at Campion Institute and getting involved in social-work formation.
The Myanmar Mission welcomes two tertians who will be with us for their tertianship pastoral-ministry: Fr Boris Repschinski (GER) in Yangon, and Fr Aria Dewanto (IDO) in Taunggyi.
I will be leaving for Myanmar on December 26, 2007, and will be there until February 7, 2008. Most of the time I will be in Taunggyi, in place of Fr Wardi who goes for passport renewal, family visit, and novice directors annual meeting. I will also have a chance to go to Yangon and see the candidates who are applying for the novitiate.”
Fr Tom O’Gorman (PHI) left for a short visit to the Philippines. He arrived in Manila on December 27 and will return to Myanmar by mid-January.
