Vietnam Service Desk closes Philippine office

The office’s operations in Manila will be closed by the end of December 2008. Its services will continue to be rendered by the St. Alberto Hurtado Center for Pastoral and Social Service in Vietnam, with r Truong Thanh Tam (VIE) as the Director.

Vietnam Service Desk (VSD) began back in the 70s with the initiative of Fr Fernando Larrañaga (CHN), in Hong Kong first and then in Manila. With indefatigable zeal, Fr Larrañaga, with the help of countless benefactors, provided help to the poor and most needy of Vietnam. Many thousands have benefited from his “anonymous charity” – his name was unknown to most – and now, when this office is closed, he can look back with satisfaction and say, from his retreat in Macao, “mission accomplished.

Together with Fr Larrañaga, Fr Felipe Goméz, VSD Director, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Sen would like to thank all their benefactors and supporters for their assistance and patronage in the past.
