Fr Dennis Gabriel Leon (Gabby) Lamug-nañawa (PHI) and Fr Oh In-don (KOR) traveled to the Philippines on April 3, to attend the Young Priests meeting of the Philippines Province. Fr In-don is visiting other communities there to prepare for his future work in the Cambodia mission. Fr Gabby was hospitalized in Manila. His abdominal infection, previously treated in Cambodia, recurred. Having recovered, he came back on May 03.
Three visitors for the Jesuit Mission, Australia, Fr Steve Curtin (ASL), Edwina and Clyde, a former volunteer with Jesuit Service Cambodia, came to Cambodia, taking in Battambang, Sisophon, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh from April 11 – 19.
Two scholastics, PJ Wang and Aloysius Bi from Arrupe International Residence, Manila, are on Foreign Mission Exposure in Cambodia from April 20 – May 18. They will visit our mission stations in Phnom Penh, Banteay Prieb, Siem Reap, Sisophon, Poipet and Battambang.
Delegate of the Korea Provincial, Fr Gabriel Je (KOR) and Br Matthew Tan (MAS) visited the Pontificio Istituto Missione Estere (PIME) community at their house in Toul Kork on April 23 to learn from the other religious congregations of their work in Cambodia.
A joint meeting of Jesuit Consultors and the Jesuit Service Cambodia Advisors Group was held on April 23 at the Jesuit House in Phnom Penh to discuss the questions raised at the Jesuit Service Cambodia Team Meeting in Siem Reap in February 2008.
Fr Gabriel Je (KOR) traveled to meet with the Jesuit communities and individual Jesuits at Battambang, Sisophon, and Siem Reap towards building up Jesuit community life from 25 – 30 April. He also traveled with Fr Greg Priyadi (IDO) to visit Pailin, where a Korean benefactor has donated funds towards the Battambang Diocese for the construction of a new church there.
In its Communiqué of April 15, 2008, the SJ Press and Information Office announced that in catalogs and other documents of the Society, Cambodia would appear with the KAM acronym.
