Theologians’ Arrupe Month

| 0

Participants of the Arrupe Month Six theologians, Jeevaraj Thangarasa (SRI), Imran John (SRI), Kiarie Muruga (AOR), Kituyi Ambrose (AOR), Peter Wang (CHN), John Tang (CHN), had their Arrupe Month from March 25 – April 26. The first part of the Arrupe Month was held at the Jesuit Residence; the second part was an 8-day retreat in Bontoc, individually directed by Emeritus Bishop Francisco Claver. Kiarie and Kituyi did not finish the program; they went to Kenya to join their province retreat.

It was a one-month period of deepening of self-knowledge and Jesuit identity. The activity was based on Fr Pedro Arrupe‘s letter issued on December 27, 1979 to prepare the Jesuit Scholastic for ordination to the priesthood. The 8-day individually directed Ignatian Spiritual Exercises brought everything together into our hearts. It was a very enriching learning experience.

This Arrupe Month is the first in the history of Arrupe International Residence. In the past, it was divided into four Arrupe Weeks.
