Six theologians, Jeevaraj Thangarasa (SRI), Imran John (SRI), Kiarie Muruga (AOR), Kituyi Ambrose (AOR), Peter Wang (CHN), John Tang (CHN), had their Arrupe Month from March 25 – April 26. The first part of the Arrupe Month was held at the Jesuit Residence; the second part was an 8-day retreat in Bontoc, individually directed by Emeritus Bishop Francisco Claver. Kiarie and Kituyi did not finish the program; they went to Kenya to join their province retreat.
It was a one-month period of deepening of self-knowledge and Jesuit identity. The activity was based on Fr Pedro Arrupe‘s letter issued on December 27, 1979 to prepare the Jesuit Scholastic for ordination to the priesthood. The 8-day individually directed Ignatian Spiritual Exercises brought everything together into our hearts. It was a very enriching learning experience.
This Arrupe Month is the first in the history of Arrupe International Residence. In the past, it was divided into four Arrupe Weeks.
