On August 1, Fr Peter Kim Se Mang wrote, "Earlier at 5pm we had a Eucharist at Canisius House presided by Archbishop Charles followed by a dinner and a short programme. This year marked the first ten years of our mission here. The celebration was graced by the presence of around 150 priests, religious, and lay collaborators. Joseph Aik Maung and Francis Htjaru, our two regents, did a great job doing the lion’s share in organizing the event with the help of 21 candidates in Yangon.

The dinner was followed by a short cultural programme primarily to bid Lorenzo Yom (KOR) and Ipong Purwantoro (IDO) farewell as they leave tomorrow for tertainship in Dublin and Boston, respectively. The farewell at Campion Institute for both of them confirmed the significant difference they have both made in the lives of many here, particularly the young people. Antonio Jin-tae Lee (KOR) is already making his mark as the new director.

You will also know that Amal Chinnappan (MDU) and Cyril Anthonysamy (MDU) from Chennai are with us now, making crucial contributions in the work they are committed to. Johann Park Do-hyun (KOR) is part of that team while shouldering the responsibility of minister at Berchman. We await the return of Tran Van Tro (ASL) next week, by which time Fortunatus Parwoto (IDO) will most likely be arriving as well to fill in where Ipong left off.

Titus Tin Maung and Stephen Marip Seng Ja were down around 26 July for a regents’ gathering. They brought encouraging news of developments at SAG. Wilbert Mireh passed through as he went north to spend some time at the roots. It’s a great consolation to see the men coming back."
