KPS Hosts Communications Training Course for Theology Students

From June 30 to July 11, Kuangchi Program Service (KPS) conducted a training course in social communications for 23 students of the Fu Jen University Theologate. Among the students were seven Jesuits – Joseph Bui (VIE), James Boey (MAS), Alberto David (MAS), Alexe Pak (KOR), Xavier Zhong (CHN), Barnabas Vu (VIE) and Elton Fernandes (CSU). The course provided input and practical training in various media, including books, music, blogs, websites, video, newspapers, Internet, TV and radio. The goal was to teach participants how these media can be used to convey Gospel messages and values to the public.

Fr Jerry Martinson introduced the course and its coordinators and explained the goals and focus of the course. Fr Jacques Duraud (CHN) participated in a panel discussing religion and the media. Fr Benoit Vermander (CHN) presented the medium of painting and shared his experiences as an artist.

After some input, the participants were divided into groups and with the help of the coordinators and technical experts, produced short 8-10 minute presentations. The final projects included a video, an e-book, a blog, a photo-story, and a multimedia stage performance.
