Comings and Goings

Fr Horie Setsuro (JPN) departed East Timor on September 22. His first stop is Japan to visit Jesuits, family and friends. He will then move on to Brazil for a new assignment. Fr Filomeno departed for his sabbatical at Oxford on September 29. Australian Province Novice Alan Wong arrived on September 10 for his long experiment, living and working with our three East Timorese novices. He will return to Australia on October 27.

While we have long been aware that we must return the current CSJ buildings and land to the Diocese of Dili for their use, we have recently learned that the Bishop is planning to open the new Catholic University using the site. It is not yet clear by when we must vacate these premises, but we informed the Bishop that it will take a minimum of 18 months to do so. This means that we must now move quickly to procure land and build a new facility.
