Categories: Uncategorized

Thanksgiving evening, November 27, at Loyola House of Studies, Ateneo de Manila University was also an occasion to celebrate two Jubilarians: Fr Roger Champoux (PHI), Tertian Instructor for EAO Tertianship, has 50 years in the Society, and Fr Bill McGarry (NYK), Assistant Tertian Instructor, has now 50 years in priesthood.

Last November 15, Fr Laurentius (Priyo) Poedjiono (IDO), Tertian Instructor for the Combined South Asia-EAO Tertianship in Kandy, Sri Lanka, shared the following news:

All Tertians finished their long retreat at the end of October, and are now studying the Spiritual Exercises and composing eight days retreat programme. They are not going to give an eight-day retreat, just a kind of simulation. Then during the whole month of December, they will be out for experiment. In Sri Lanka, no one goes abroad like other experiments. They will spread out, working among the elders, orphans, sick, poor, some giving recollection or retreat to sisters and other religious. They will be back in Kandy be the end of December 2008.

On December 1 – 4, Fr Laurentius Poedjiono is going to Singapore for a medical checkup. When he returns to Sri Lanka, he’ll be visiting all the tertians in their places of experiment.

Fr Peter Masatsugu Shimokawa, a tertian from Japan, at this moment is sick, he cannot move since a nerve on his left leg is not well, making it painful and uncomfortable for him to move and walk. He was taken to a doctor, and now he is taking a rest.

In the afternoon of December 4, the family of Fr Priyo decided to take their mother out of the ICU and remove any medical intervention so she could finally rest. Her last hours were spent in the company of Fr Priyo and other family members. Early morning, at 01.27 am, December 5, she passed away peacefully. Please pray for her and those she left behind.
