Last November 10, Ms Irene Ho, Director of St Aloysius Gonzaga English Language Institute, sent word from Kuala Lumpur to Fr Paul Pollock (TAI) that her operation, and insertion of a pacemaker, was successful.

On November 25, Irene was re-admitted to the hospital, to investigate swelling due to internal bleeding. There is the possibility that she may have to have another operation if the doctors cannot stop the bleeding. She is not out of the forest yet. Please keep her in your prayers.

On November 17, Fr Paul Pollock went to Taunggyi to attend the ordination of the new auxiliary bishop there. Auxiliary Bishop Basilio Athai, 52 years old, was installed on November 18 during a ceremony on the grounds of St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Taunggyi City.

Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, Bangkok-based apostolic delegate to Myanmar, was the main presider. Other concelebrants were Archbishops Matthias U Shwe of Taunggyi, Paul Zinghtung Grawng of Mandalay and Charles Bo of Yangon, 13 other prelates including two auxiliary bishops and about 220 priests.
