Puskat Film received Award of Distinction

The film On Power to Will for Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) (24 minutes) produced by Studio Audio Visual Puskat,Yogyakarta Indonesia got the first award in the category “Awards of Distinction” during the International Catholic Film and Multimedia Festival in Niepokalanow, Poland in May 2009. The director of the film was Mr. Haryo Sentanu Murti, staff at Studio Audio Visual Puskat. This film was produced in cooperation with KARINA Archdiocese of Semarang, Lembaga Studi Realino, Caritas Germany and Ford Foundation.

This film tells about the spirit of solidarity of Catholic Church in Indonesia for the poor and downtrodden people. This spirit of solidarity is performed through the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR). CBR is a strategy within general community development for rehabilitation, equalization of opportunities and social inclusion of all children and adult with disabilities. CBR is implemented jointly by the disabled, their families, their communities, and governmental and non-government institutions working in the field of health, education, livelihood, social and other services. Copies of this film are already distributed among the basic communities for people empowerment process.

Mr. Haryo Sentanu Murti graduated from State High School of Arts in 1992 majoring in visual arts. He is a hard worker and a dedicated Muslim who has been working at Studio Audio Visual Puskat Yogyakarta since 1994. He is an artist and designer for comics and posters. He is also a trainer for group media. In video film production, he is usually in charge as Artistic director.

In the previous years and in the same festival, Puskat also got awards for other films: Second Award for Bethlehem van Java in the category “Feature Film” directed by Fr Murti Hadi Wijayanto (2008); nomination for Love that Never Stops Flowing directed by Ms. Isti Purwi Tyas Utami (2006); and Second Award for Love of A Mother in Menoreh Hills directed by Ms. Isti Purwi Tyas Utami (2005).
