Two scholastics from Vietnam Pham Dinh Cu and Nguyen Thanh Hung are going to Thailand for their regency. Granted that they will be given visas, they are expected to be in Bangkok by July. They will be assigned to Xavier Hall Community and be fully engaged in Thai language studies.

The Thai region will gather together in October 6 in Hua Hin. They will spend some time, with the help of a resource person, to follow up Father General’s letter on the Priesthood in the Society of Jesus (2009/07). It will be an opportunity for the Society of Jesus, in the spirit of Father General’s directions to participate in this ecclesiastical renewal.

Archbishop Kriengsak has graciously accepted to come to Xavier Hall to celebrate the Eucharist on Sunday, September 27. The first purpose of this occasion will be for the Society (and all our parishioners) to welcome the new archbishop, who was appointed last May 14. It will also be an occasion to offer prayers of thanksgiving for all benefactors who contributed so much to the renovation of Xavier Hall Center. After the Eucharist, Archbishop Kriengsak will bless the newly renovated Center building, and then have lunch with all those who attend the Eucharist.

On September 7, 2009, Fr Miguel Garaizabal Fontenla will be celebrating his 50th anniversary as a Jesuit. Miguel will be going to Spain for a mini-sabbatical on June 23, and returning on September 7 (the very anniversary). We wish him safe travels and a good rest. A Mass and dinner celebration awaits his return.
