Summer activities strengthen bond of Filipino Jesuits

More than 100 Jesuits attended the Province Villa in Baguio City, April 5-11. Fr Manuel Perez, Minister of Ateneo de Manila University’s Jesuit Residence, was in charge. Fr Manny added a special attraction to the festivities when he pronounced final vows there on April 7.

Second year Regents had a workshop from April 12-16 to address Regency needs and look ahead to Theology. Fr Robert Rivera, Delegate for Regents, oversaw the program, which features inputs by Jesuit and lay speakers. The AdMU Jesuit Residence hosted the workshop this year.

Ateneo de Davao University hosted the meeting of young priests and brothers from April 12-15. This gathering aimed at renewal and bonding among young Jesuits who have finished basic formation within the past five years. Fr Provincial Jojo Magadia joined the group, with activities coordinated by Fr Lester Maramara.

Presbyteral Ordinations were held April 17 at the Gesu Church, AdMU. Seven deacons were ordained at 8:30 a.m. by the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Edward J. Adams, D.D.

Six scholastics (four philosophers and two incoming theologians) are joining the China exposure from 19 April till May 9.

Five theologians joined the summer program on interreligious dialogue in Chiang Mai,Thailand. That begins on 19 Apr and runs May 19.
