The Australian Jesuits’ Eureka Street and eRenlai published by Jesuit-run Taipei-Ricci Institute are part of a major Catholic media initiative launched recently. Their content will be featured, along with that of three other Catholic publications, in Global Pulse, an online paid subscription magazine conceived by UCAN Executive Director Fr Michael Kelly SJ and his team.
“Global Pulse Magazine provides unique insights on issues that matter – in the Church and in the wider world of politics, religion, ethics, society and culture,” said Fr Kelly, who is also Global Pulse’s Chief Executive Officer. “The content is aimed at an international English readership that values good writing and thoughtful assessments from the best Catholic publishers about events and people of international significance from a discerning, intelligent, Catholic perspective.”
The new magazine, which will be officially launched on September 29, contains news briefs, features, analysis, opinion, reviews and inspirations drawn from UCAN, Eureka Street, eRenlai, as well as two other global partners, each with an acknowledged reputation for quality Catholic journalism – La Croix (Paris), and Commonweal (New York City).
Global Pulse’s editor in chief is Robert Mickens, the Rome-based reporter and commentator, who will contribute his celebrated ‘Letter from Rome’ each week and will also bring readers exclusive letters and essays from correspondents of the highest calibre, based in all parts of the world.
“It all adds up to a truly global selection of incisive, informative and thought-provoking writing which I’m sure you will find engaging and enjoyable,” said Fr Kelly.
Global Pulse will be free through October, after which visitors will be invited to subscribe for US$25 a year. For more information, go to www.globalpulsemagazine.com.
