Fr. Arturo Sosa, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, during an interview session with the Jesuit Communication Team at the Aula in Roma.

Within 48 hours of his election as the 31st Superior General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Arturo Sosa SJ sat down for an extensive interview with the GC36 media team in Rome. Having received 30 questions in advance, he faced the cameras on the afternoon of Sunday, October 16.

The aim of the interview was to give Father General an opportunity to present and share some insights of what he had in mind at the start of his new mission in the Society of Jesus at the universal level. The interview, which lasted for an hour and a half, is a journey from Fr General’s childhood and adolescence, through his years in formation as a young Jesuit, to becoming the Superior General.

His academic background in political science and pastoral commitments in the social field gradually define the portrait of a Jesuit dedicated to the Society of Jesus and committed to the service of faith and the promotion of justice.

The interview introduces the new Superior General in a way that is more personal, to Jesuits and the wider Ignatian family around the world.
