Having a “zeal for evangelisation, a particular sensitivity for dramatic social situations and for the poor, passing through his missionary heart” – this was how Cardinal Vicar Angelo De Donatis described Fr Pedro Arrupe SJ in his speech at the opening of the diocesan phase of the process of beatification and canonisation of Fr Arrupe.
Fr Arrupe “was a true man of God, and he also had a personality full of human qualities in knowing, treating, listening, respecting, caring and helping others, giving great trust to each one”, said the Vicar for the Diocese of Rome, which is the diocese where Fr Arrupe died.
