Sch Joseph Muruga Kiarie (AOR) wrote on July 26: Faber House is a newly refurbished community for "international" Jesuit theologians, a sub-community of the Arrupe International Residence.
The community has 15 theologians and two formators. Fr Pham Minh-Uoc (ASL) is Superior and Fr Ludovico Ryu Hyong-nyol (KOR) is the Minister. The members hail from eight countries: Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Sri Lanka, Korea, Kenya, and East Timor. This diversity enriches our brotherhood through the celebration of our stories, songs and culture. It takes about 25 minutes to walk from our community to Ateneo.
In spite of this, theologians are zealous and enthusiastic with their studies. Besides studies, we go for apostolates on Sundays in different parishes within the neighborhood. So far our experiences have been terrific.
When we moved into Faber House, most of the items were not in place. Gradually, things are taking shape, and we hope for the better. In this respect, we had a beautiful celebration of mass yesterday with Fr Rector (Martin Suhartono) in our community. After the dinner, we had a lengthy meeting on the challenges we have encountered so far in the community. Many suggestions were raised, and we believe that lasting solutions will be realized as we move along.
As we anticipate for the great feast day of St. Ignatius, some theologians are working hard to make sure that we have a splendid celebration. We humbly request for your prayers so that our mission in LST will be fruitful and meaningful. Also remember to pray for Shinjae Youh (KOR) and James Boey (MAS) who are down with fever.
You are most welcome to Faber House, where we celebrate our Jesuit brotherhood in style.
