Sometimes, it can be a struggle to set aside time for prayer. Work, school, the distractions of technology, indeed the demands of daily life can make it challenging to make prayer a priority. Pope Francis certainly knows about this.
During his traditional Sunday address to tens of thousands of people in St Peter’s Square in Rome on January 29, Pope Francis presented “Click to Pray”, a social media platform which makes it easier for Catholics around the world to share prayer intentions using their smartphones.
“Click to Pray” is the official app of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network (Apostleship of Prayer). Available on both Android and iOS devices, the app includes The Pope Video with Pope Francis’ monthly prayer intentions, the Mysteries of the Rosary, daily prayers for morning, afternoon and night, and a prayer wall where users can post prayer intentions and view other prayer requests in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and recently, Chinese. Users can then track how many Catholics around the world have prayed for their request.
After every prayer, users can tap a box to indicate that they have completed the prayer and view how many others have also prayed. All the prayers add up and will appear on the app’s prayer counter. Every prayer counts!
The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network hopes that “Click to Pray” will motivate Catholics to pray every day for one another as a network and to connect with the mission of the Church.
