Fr General Arturo Sosa SJ visited the communities of the Vietnamese Jesuit Province from 2 to 7 December 2018 and learned about the situation of the Catholic Church in the country, the contributions of the Jesuits to the Church and society, and their challenges. He then flew to the Philippines where he spent a week, from 7 to 15 December, visiting various ministries and communities in Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.
