Education secretaries bolster networking and collaboration

What is the context of Jesuit schools in Asia Pacific? How are they addressing the challenges in their local context?  How can, for example, Xavier Jesuit School in Cambodia learn from the experience of Colégio de Santo Inácio de Loiola in Timor-Leste, and vice versa? These questions and more accounted for a large part of the discussion between the education delegates of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) during their recent meeting in Singapore.

Shaping Ignatian leaders in education

The education secretaries within the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) met from May 30 to June 2 in Siem Reap, Cambodia to discuss, among many things, possible projects for collaboration. Guiding the discussion around how members of the Asia Pacific network of Jesuit schools can assist and support each other’s projects was the new JCAP Coordinator for Basic and Secondary Education, Fr Johnny Go SJ, who took over the role from Fr Christopher Gleeson SJ recently.

Collaborating to promote the right to education

A new Jesuit initiative was recently launched to foster collaboration in making the right to quality education for all a reality across the world.  In our world today, 62 million children do not go to school, 250 million children finish primary school without knowing how to read or write due to the poor quality of education and 751 million of people aged 15 and above cannot read or write, and two thirds of them are women.

JRS partners with Jesuit law schools to help child migrants in the USA

In response to the dramatic increase in the number of unaccompanied children arriving in the United States from Central America over the past few years, Jesuit Refugee Service is collaborating with 13 Jesuit law schools in the US to address the issues faced by these child migrants.
