Of giving much and receiving more

The Asia Pacific Tertianship programme includes a two-week Christmas exposure programme during which the tertians spend two weeks with various communities. They offer this joint reflection on the experience.

Exposed or immersed?

Fr Claudiu Jani Miklós SJ from the Independent Region of Romania was one of six tertians in the recently concluded 2015 to 2016 Asia Pacific Tertianship in the Philippines. Before tertianship, Fr Miklós was Spiritual Director of the Diocesan Roman Catholic High School Hám János of Satu Mare for four years. He shares with us a reflection on his tertianship experience.

Timorese Jesuit Fr Venancio Pereira recently completed his tertianship in Sri Lanka, and shares how his tertianship experience has made him a “professional Jesuit”.

First of all, I would like to thank Fr Mark Raper SJ, my superior for sending me to do my tertianship in Sri Lanka. It was a special grace that I received personally from the Lord, the owner of my vocation and life.

Pope receives Australian gift for anniversary of Restoration

Australian Provincial Fr Brian McCoy SJ and former Provincial Fr Steve Curtin SJ presented Pope Francis with a special gift of Sevenhill wine at a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Restoration of the Society.  Fr McCoy and Fr Curtin were in Rome for the Tertian Directors Meeting, which coincided with the anniversary celebration on August 7.  They were joined by another Australian Jesuit, Fr Minh-Uoc Pham.

Missioned to the Conference

The Conference team is expanding and strengthening.  Consultations between the President and Provincials over several months have resulted in the missioning of Jesuits from various Provinces to core positions in the Conference.  This generosity of spirit will greatly help the Conference to keep the Society in Asia Pacific oriented towards the service of faith and the promotion of justice.
