A grateful voice from Myanmar

May 2nd marked the anniversary of the Cyclone Nargis which devastated the Delta in Myanmar, leaving around 150,000 dead and 2.4 million affected.

Like thousands of others we were drawn into helping the hapless people.
Our houses were shattered and we were trapped for sometime. Yet from the first day onwards, our brothers rushed to help whoever was in need.
Then the school chipped in, and with international support, reached out to some of the remotest villages.
Our own collaboration with the church structures helped them to formulate the emergency response.
Then we ourselves started our work. So far we have reached so many people amidst lot of challenges, helping thousands of students, rebuilding hundreds of houses, repairing schools and monasteries, helping with livelihood.
Recently our efforts with other NGOs and the Caritas on Disaster Risk Reduction – training of around 100 Training of Trainers who are helping the villages – are gaining ground.
All this gives a sense of our calling in this new land.
That we could be of help to all these people is really a moment of grace.
To all of who contributed to this, my grateful regards.
May this people recover completely from many other challenges.
