Categories: JCAP News

Fr Adolfo Nicolás SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, has become the new President of the International Union of Superiors General (UISG). The UISG represents the superior generals of the more than 200 male religious congregations in the world today.

Fr Nicolás had been Vice President to Franciscan José Rodriguez Carballo OFM, and assumed the top post upon Fr J José’s appointment as Secretary of the Vatican Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life in May.  The new Vice President will be elected during the General Assembly in November.

The Union of Superiors General is an institution of pontifical right, founded by the Congregation for Religious.  It promotes the life and mission of individual institutes that work in service of the Church, and collaboration and communication among religious orders, bishops and the Holy See.
