In celebration of the Feast Day of St Ignatius of Loyola, join the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific as we pray and journey towards true conversion.
While we commemorate the 500th anniversary of St Ignatius’ injury at the Battle of Pamplona that marked a turning point in his life, it is tempting to think that Ignatius had only one conversion experience. In fact, St Ignatius’ conversion was an ongoing journey of communion with God and obedience to His will that was worked unto perfection with the passing of time.
St Paul tells us, “Put off your old nature… and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Eph. 4:22, 24).
Join us on Friday, 30 July, on Facebook or YouTube at 6PM Jakarta/7PM Manila/8PM Tokyo/9PM Sydney, as we ask for the grace to open ourselves more to the promptings of the Holy Spirit so we can strive for true conversion: of our soul, of our heart, and of our mind.
We journey together in conversion against the backdrop of the fragility of the world in which we live: the death, illness, forced isolation and loneliness brought by Covid-19; violence and injustice from conflicts; the lack of hope of young people, and the deterioration of our environment.
This Ignatian Year is a call to personal, communal, and institutional conversion, guided by the Universal Apostolic Preferences. We have with us an opportunity to let God transform our life-mission according to His will, and to do it together.
As Fr General Arturo Sosa SJ reminds us: “[We are] all companions on the journey… to grow, starting in the exact place [we] find [ourselves], guided by the Lord, and advancing step-by-step … and [to] become a pilgrim [ourselves] so that [we] may walk the path of Christian adventure in our changing world.”
See you on Friday, 30 July, on Facebook or YouTube, at 6PM Jakarta/7PM Manila/8PM Tokyo/9PM Sydney as we pray with Scripture, sing, and ponder on the love of Christ, and his constant call to holiness and conversion.
