Ignatian Spirituality Workshop

The JCAP Ignatian Spirituality Network is organising an onsite Ignatian Spirituality workshop from 29 August to 3 September at the East Asian Pastoral Institute in Manila.

This workshop is a follow up to the JCAP discernment in common virtual workshop held in January 2021. It is open to Jesuits and mission partners who are actively involved in facilitating discernment in common or in bringing Ignatian Spirituality into dialogue with religions and cultures. Additionally, the meeting will include the Ignatian Spirituality Network delegates of the JCAP provinces and regions.

The workshop is free, but travel costs for participants will be borne by their institutions or provinces and regions. Accommodation and meals will be covered by JCAP. The program will include communal liturgies, meals, socials and other activities. Free copies of the books will be given to all participants during the launch.

The themes of the workshop include:

Monday, 29 August
Reflection on the pandemic, spiritual conversation, sharing on spirituality ministries in JCAP

Tuesday, 30 August and Wednesday, 31 August
Deepening Our Formation in Discernment in Common
Led by: Ian Crib SJ, Sally Law, Ed Quinnan SJ, and Michael Smith SJ

Thursday, 1 September
Hands-on experience of a Universal Spirituality Retreat: Morning of guided prayer, meditation, and reflection by SE Lawrence SJ
Dialogue with Islam in Ignatian Spirituality and discernment in common; Book Launching: “Journeying with Muslims: The Ignatian Way”

Friday, 2 September
Dialogue with Buddhism in Ignatian Spirituality and discernment in common; Book Launching: “The Wheel and The Cross: An Anthology by Jesuits and Friends on Buddhism and Dialogue”

Saturday, 3 September
Gathering the fruits and going forward

 

Those who are unable to participate in-person may attend the following sessions online:

Discernment in Common: 30-31 Aug (9am-12pm, 2.30pm-5.30pm Manila time)
Dialogue with Islam: 1 Sep (2.30pm-5.30pm)
Dialogue with Buddhism: 2 Sep (9am-12pm)

 

Registration is until 15 August.
