From 21–23 June, Saengtham College, Xavier Campus, Chiang Rai warmly welcomed students and staff from Wah Yan College, Hong Kong for a three-day immersion programme entitled “Magis Thailand 2026: A Service and Life Exposure”. The programme provided participants with opportunities to learn from one another, engage with local communities, and deepen their understanding of service, culture, and faith.
The immersion began on 21 June with a guided tour of the Xavier community led by members of the Student Council. Through the tour, the visitors were introduced to the people, programmes, and mission of Xavier Campus while forming new friendships with students and staff. The day concluded with a meaningful Sunday Mass, grounding the days ahead in gratitude, reflection, and shared faith.
On 22 June, students from Wah Yan College spent a full day participating in a variety of learning and cultural exchange activities alongside Xavier Campus students. The programme included school life sharing, cultural exchange activities, English games, and a student sharing session on “My Future Plan”. These activities encouraged meaningful conversations, strengthened communication skills, and fostered mutual understanding among participants from different cultural backgrounds. The day ended with a gardening activity within the community, serving as a reminder that growth takes place not only through academic learning but also through collaboration, service, and care for the environment.
The final day of the immersion, 23 June, offered participants the opportunity to explore the rich history and culture of Northern Thailand through a visit to the Golden Triangle and the Hall of Opium. In the afternoon, students and staff brought joy to the children of Rungnapa School through interactive games and activities. The immersion concluded with a Holy Mass and a heartfelt farewell programme featuring cultural performances by both Wah Yan College and Xavier Campus students. These performances celebrated the friendships, experiences, and memories created throughout the programme.
As a final gesture of blessing and goodwill, members of the Xavier community tied white strings around the wrists of the Wah Yan College students—a cherished local tradition symbolising prayers for good health, safety, happiness, and good fortune. The simple yet meaningful ceremony reflected the spirit of solidarity and mutual care that characterised the entire immersion experience.
Through “Magis Thailand 2026,” participants were able to encounter different cultures, engage in meaningful service, and build lasting friendships. What was intended as an educational exchange became a journey of shared learning, personal growth, and deeper appreciation of the values of faith, service, and intercultural understanding. As the participants returned to their respective communities, they carried with them not only memories of their time together but also a renewed commitment to becoming people for and with others.
