Pope Benedict XVI signed a decree approving the beatification of Peter Kibe and 187 other martyrs on June 1st, something which the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan has long been requesting the Pope to do. The date when the beatification will be publicly proclaimed and celebrated will be determined after consultation between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Japan and the Holy Office in Rome.
The Jesuits of Vietnam Region will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the return of the Jesuits to Vietnam (1975-2007) and the establishment of the Vietnam Province on July 14.

We all say prayers of thanksgiving for Fr Ismael Zuloaga (CHN), who will celebrate his 50-year priesthood on July 30. He was ordained on March 18, 1957. We fondly remember him as JCEAO president from 1992-2004. Currently, he is in charge of Alumni Relations, Xavier School, Manila. He continues to manifest his great love for China by helping quite a number of Chinese studying in the Philippines.
