Since being elected Superior General of the Society of Jesus at the 36th General Congregation in October 2016, Fr Arturo Sosa SJ has made four trips to the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific. In 2017, he visited Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore. The following year, he visited Vietnam and the Philippines. In 2019, he was in Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan. In 2024, in his first post-pandemic trip to Asia Pacific, he visited Australia and Timor-Leste.

In each country he visits, Father General meets with Jesuits and collaborators, learning from them about the life of the Society in Asia Pacific and giving them much food for thought with his reflections on the world today and the response of the Society of Jesus from the 36th General Congregation.
