Well-known Jesuit composer Fr Christopher Willcock SJ has written a mass to commemorate the ANZAC Centenary, 2014 to 2018 in Australia. He has made the music for the Mass for the Fallen available free online. ANZAC Day marks the first major military action fought by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) in World War 1. The mass is for ANZAC Day, April 25, this year, but Fr Willcock hopes it will be performed for ANZAC Days in the future as well.
A motet from the Mass for the Fallen entitled “We will remember them” is in the ANZAC tribute album, Gallipoli. “We will remember them” can also be downloaded free.
In the video below, Fr Willcock discusses the story behind the Mass for the Fallen.
