The Beijing Center launches Matteo Ricci animated stickers

Categories: Province News

Matteo Ricci can now be part of your everyday mobile messaging.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, The Beijing Center has developed a set of Venerable Matteo Ricci SJ moving stickers, which accent texts with style and smiles. The first Westerner to be invited into the Forbidden City, Matteo Ricci made achievements in science, geographical study, cross-cultural communication, and theological ideas while in China.

The moving stickers show Matteo Ricci wearing the iconic blue robes and tall guan from his watercolor portrait in the Xujiahui school collection, featuring him, Johann Schall von Bell, Ferdinand Verbiest, and Xu Guangqi. The sticker pack is suitable for a variety of occasions, including for prayer, celebrating birthdays, saying thanks, appreciating others, demonstrating playfulness, and more.

While Matteo Ricci may have had a turbulent journey himself, sending him in the modern age is delightfully simple. He is available on the LINE and WhatsApp platforms in English, and WeChat in Chinese. As a prolific letter-writer and multilingual academic, the Founding Father of the China Mission is ready to join you in your digital correspondence!
