The Society of Jesus rejoices with the ordination of one of its men from Myanmar. Deacon Saw Justin Nay Gay Htoo SJ was ordained a priest alongside Deacon Genevino Nay San Thet from the Diocese of Taungngu. Most Rev John Saw Gawdy, Bishop of Taungngu, presided over the ordination Mass held in the Sacred Heart Church on 18 January.
Fr Saw Justin becomes the 19th Jesuit priest from the local church of Myanmar. This joyful occasion follows another recent ordination of a Myanmar Jesuit, Fr Peter Mwe Seng Awng SJ, who was ordained last month in Myitkyina, Kachin State.
We pray for the Society of Jesus and the local church in Myanmar.
