Indonesian Jesuit Fr Riyo Mursanto SJ has been appointed the Local Superior of the Lahore Community since 1 July. He takes over from Fr Noel Ajanthan Jayanathan SJ, who served as Acting Superior for two years.
Fr Riyo was the former Rector of Arrupe International Residence in Manila and Formation Delegate of the Jesuit Conference of Asia Pacific (JCAP) before moving to Pakistan in 2025. Prior to his role as Socius to then-JCAP President Fr Adolfo Nicolás SJ, he served as Provincial of the Indonesian Province for six years.
“We are grateful to Fr Riyo for his availability and generosity in taking on this new responsibility,” said JCAP President Fr Jun Viray SJ. He likewise thanked Fr Jayanathan “for his dedication and commitment as Acting Superior for the past two years” and commended both to the prayers of everyone.
The Pakistan Mission was entrusted to JCAP from the Sri Lankan Province in 2023.
