(Part one of a four-part series on the tertians of the 2018-2019 Asia Pacific Tertianship programme)
From all over the world, eight Jesuits have gathered in the Philippines for the Asia Pacific Tertianship from September 2018 to March 2019. Please pray for the tertians as they take this “exercise of obtaining love”.
Fr Antonius Firmansyah (Indonesia)
Transcribed to the Japanese Province, Fr Antonius Firmansyah joined the Society of Jesus in 1996 and was ordained in 2009. He has been teaching at Sophia University in Tokyo since 2014.
“During this tertianship, I am looking forward to preparing my heart so that it can be ready to be incorporated into the whole body of the Society of Jesus,” shared Fr Firmansyah.
And his takeaway from the experience? “After the tertianship, I am hoping that the process of my integration and incorporation into the whole body of the Society of Jesus can be done accordingly.”
Br Joseph Dinh Viet Hung (Vietnam)
From the Vietnamese Province, Br Joseph Hung entered the Society of Jesus in 2003 and took his vows in 2005. He has been working as an assistant of the Jesuit parish priest.
“I want to have more silent time in order to understand more the Society of Jesus and to deepen my relationship and friendship with Jesus,” said Br Hung.
After the tertianship, Br Hung “desire(s) to have a profound union with Jesus to the extent that I wish to become one heart and one mind with him in order to be ready for my future mission”.
