The Integrated Program reflects the Jesuit commitment to holistic education. Students are formed not only in teaching methods but also through the sciences, humanities, and liberal arts, enabling them to grow intellectually, socially, and morally. Alongside academic learning, SAG emphasises personal and spiritual formation, offering mentoring, retreats, and formation programs that accompany students in their overall growth.
Today, SAG offers several programs, including the Integrated Education Diploma Program, Community College, Communicative English Language Program, Global English Language Program (in collaboration with Jesuit Worldwide Learning), and the Young Learner Program.
SAG draws students from all Myanmar states and regions, many from remote and conflict-affected areas such as Kachin, Chin, and Kayah. A significant number are from displaced families. For these young people, SAG offers refuge, stability, and renewed hope.
Most graduates of the Integrated Program go on to serve as teachers in private and religious schools, while others work with NGOs and community organisations. Through their service, SAG’s mission continues to reach communities across the country.
Alumnae Monica Zar Zar and Nan Khin Su Lwin have been teaching at SAG for four years. “Being a teacher here is a blessing. We guide students to become confident, capable, and socially responsible individuals,” shares Monica. Nan Khin echoes this, noting that SAG provides a platform for students from all walks of life to learn, grow, and prepare for meaningful futures.
Both were scholarship recipients, like more than 80 per cent of mission program students, funded by benefactors and partner organisations. “Scholarships let students focus fully on learning, take responsibility, and stay committed,” says Monica. Nan Khin adds they cover essentials, allowing students to thrive in a supportive environment.
Current students like 21-year-old Martin from Chin State exemplify this. Displaced by conflict and facing setbacks from Covid and political unrest, he remained motivated through the encouragement of family and mentors. “SAG helped me grow in leadership, social skills, and confidence. I’m no longer afraid to communicate in English, and I’ve learned that anyone can help others if they have the willingness to serve.”
Thinzar Linn Lett, also 21 from Mo-Byel, overcame war and pandemic disruptions. She joined SAG after volunteering in her community. “SAG teachers are approachable and friendly, which helped me gain confidence. Through group projects like speech, art, and public speaking, I’ve improved my communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.”

Martin hopes to return to his hometown to support children’s education, connect them with opportunities, and guide the new generation. Thinzar aspires to provide quality education, especially in English, to uplift her community.
Scholarships address one key need, but SAG, like many mission-driven institutions, faces ongoing challenges, including clearer legal recognition as a higher education institution, greater financial sustainability, improved infrastructure, and faculty development.
SAG urgently needs additional classrooms, hostels, and learning spaces to accommodate students from across the country, as well as support for the faculty to pursue advanced studies and training to ensure high-quality education for current and future students.
“SAG’s mission is possible only because of the generosity of benefactors and partners,” says Fr Aik Maung SJ, SAG Director, noting that financial support provides scholarships, formation programmes, and essential resources for students with no other options. “For many young people from displaced or marginalised communities, these contributions are a light in the darkness, giving hope, dignity, and a chance for a brighter future.”
Martin and Thinzar tell donors: “Your support is not just helping us study—it’s giving us hope, a future, and the ability to serve others. Thank you for believing in us.”
