Recently, MLI introduced two new certificate programmes. The Certificate in Business English and Management is designed to provide learners with opportunities to enhance both their communication and leadership skills within business contexts. This programme addresses the demand for practical, workplace-ready competencies by blending language training with essential management principles.
The programme offers a focused and practical curriculum, including modules such as English for Business Communication, Management Skills Development, Leadership Skills Essentials, and Human Resource Essentials. By covering these key areas, the programme provides a foundation in both language proficiency and organisational leadership. Participants are expected to gain not only confidence in professional communication but also the tools to manage teams and responsibilities effectively in diverse work environments.
The second programme, the English Proficiency and Self-Leadership course, is currently in its second module. After successfully completing the first module, the learners demonstrated more confidence in speaking English and greater self-awareness, while a few new students were warmly welcomed into the group. The second module offers student-centred activities such as group discussions, role-plays, presentations, and interactive tasks that blend language learning with personal growth.
The English Proficiency and Self-Leadership course is structured around four interconnected subjects: English, Leadership, Music, and Computing. This interdisciplinary approach encourages students to explore creativity, build confidence, and acquire real-world communication abilities. The storybook reading and retelling activities improve students’ reading fluency, speaking skills, and public speaking confidence.
Alongside these two new certificate programmes, MLI also welcomed its seventh intake of students for the Diploma in Leadership, following a rigorous entrance test and selection process. The students in this fully online programme are all working professionals.
For the first few weeks, students are encouraged to adapt their work schedules to accommodate the demands of the programme. This structured beginning aims to ensure a smooth transition, allowing participants to fully understand the programme’s structure before progressing to the core curriculum. The goal is for all students to be well-adjusted to the programme’s pace and requirements by the time it officially begins.
The orientation session held on 8 July had a warm and friendly atmosphere, fostering a sense of community among the new students. They had the opportunity to introduce themselves and connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, creating a lively environment. It marked the beginning of a transformative learning experience, where students develop their leadership skills and nurture valuable connections that will support them throughout their professional journeys.
