The Myanmar Jesuit Region celebrated the profession of Final Vows of Fr Stephen Mar Tay SJ on 3 September at the Oratory of St Ignatius of Loyola, Loyola House of Studies at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines.
Fr Mar Tay is the first priest to come from his village and only the fourth local Jesuit from Myanmar to pronounce Final Vows. Myanmar Regional Superior Fr Girish Santiago SJ presided over the Eucharistic celebration and received Fr Mar Tay’s solemn profession on behalf of Fr General Arturo Sosa SJ.
Surrounded by Jesuits, religious, and the lay faithful, the community gathered around the altar to give thanks for Fr Mar Tay’s lifelong commitment to God’s greater glory.
